Your quick-start guide for using the C.A.R.E. Companion Card Deck the moment overwhelm hits.
C.A.R.E. is the tool you reach for in the space between the steps of your AIAER™ Journey — built from Ethnotraumatology™, so healing doesn't stay theoretical. This guide gets you using it in under five minutes, starting today.
Keep your deck within reach — your bag, your nightstand, your car. This tool only works if you can find it in the moment you need it.
Stop. Breathe in for four counts, out for six. Pull your Center card and read it out loud, even in a whisper. You are not what shook you — you are who God says you are.
Name what just happened, plainly and without judgment. "That comment triggered a wound from ___." Pull your Acknowledge card as a mirror, not a script.
Say out loud what you're releasing and to whom: "I release ___ back to God — it was never mine to carry alone." Pull your Release card and let the prayer prompt lead you.
Speak your identity statement from the Establish card. Then take one small next action — send the text, walk back into the room, close the laptop — from that re-established place, not from the trigger.
Any moment overwhelm shows up: a hard conversation, an old memory surfacing, church hurt resurfacing mid-sermon, or the quiet 2am spiral. There is no wrong time to reach for C.A.R.E.
